osmo's Get Gorgeous Tips!

January is the perfect month for making beauty resolutions. Start your year right with these get-gorgeous tips from Cosmopolitan magazine:

  • Get rid of the old to make space for the new

Toss out old makeup, moisturizers and lotions that have been with you forever. “All beauty products have an expiry date, but they're not always on the packaging,” says makeup artist Ricci Chan. Ricci advises tossing out anything wet after eight months since you opened the package, which includes foundation, skincare and cream makeup. “Give lipstick one year,” says Ricci. The product with the shortest shelf life? Mascara: Toss it out after three months.

  • Learn how to fake a glow

Take on this quick makeup move for instant radiance: Rub a dot of gold cream onto forehead, cheeks and neck, and a bit on your brow bones. Got fair skin? You could mix a pinch of white shimmer shadow into your foundation or moisturizer.

  • See a dermatologist

If you take your body to a medical doctor for yearly check-ups, you should do the same for your skin. You'll learn a new thing or two about your ever-changing skin (like your present skin type), as well as problems you couldn't have diagnosed yourself, and you'll save on skin care purchases by getting the right prescription for your complexion crises.

  • Find a face powder in your skin's exact shade

When your powder is just your skin's color, you lay a natural, flawless canvas for beautiful makeup possibilities. Scan the stores for makeup that's yellow-based, not pink-based, since the latter makes Pinay skin look ashen. Test and test before you buy—it takes a while but it's well worth the work.

  • Take your vitamins

Getting enough nutrients through a multivitamin and a healthy diet strengthens your body at a cellular level, which in turn shows in your skin and hair. Vitamin A keeps skin from drying, Vitamin C is vital in collagen production, and Vitamin E boosts the skin's healing and hydration process. Nourish your body from the outside; use a booster or a night cream that uses vitamins to feed stressed-out skin.
