Look of Love
Love is definitely in the air so get ready for what
may be your most memorable Valentine's Day yet! This
February, Cosmopolitan Magazine shows you how to get
that perfect look of love.
This Valentine season offers many dating possibilities.
Be prepared for an adventurous getaway to Tagaytay,
a romantic candlelit dinner or a dreamy Valentine concert.
Wherever you decide to go, make sure you look your best.
For daytime dates, Cosmopolitan Beauty Editor Ianne
Evangelista suggests keeping makeup natural and fresh.
"Just some lipgloss, face powder and a touch of
pink blush can really make a difference and help you
look healthy and sun-kissed. Too much makeup will need
major maintenance and you really don't want to be fussing
with sludgy foundation that's moving down your cheek
every time it gets humid", Ianne shares. For more
definition, she recommends two coats of waterproof mascara,
which opens up the eyes and keeps them smudge-free.
Ianne adds, "Don't forget to use a moisturizer
with at least an SPF 15 to protect your skin from the
sun and helps skin look a little dewy."
When night falls, there's less light and more shadow,
which means you have to add a bit more makeup to complement
your evening wear. Ianne suggests dabbing and blending
concealer only where you need it. Ianne adds, "I
love focusing all the attention on the eyes when doing
evening makeup because it's so much sexier and since
makeup should be balanced out, you can get away with
almost bare lips so you don't need to touch up your
lipstick!" Doing a smoky eye is actually easy.
"Apply a base shadow all over the lid, then apply
a medium shade from the lash lines until the creases.
Using a dark shadow or an eyeliner, line your upper
and lower lash lines and smudge with your finger. Apply
as many coats of waterproof mascara as you can, but
remember to comb lashes afterwards. To keep your smoky
eye from looking too smudgy, use a base shadow, medium
shade and liner/dark shadow from the same color family,
for example, a lilac base eyeshadow, a purple shadow
and an eggplant-colored liner", says Ianne.
Here are a few more tips from Ianne:
· DON'T overdo your Valentine's
fragrance. Spritz it twice into the air and walk into
it, or dab it onto your pulse points like your neck,
wrists, and unexpected places like behind your ears,
your cleavage and behind your knees.
· DO wear easy lipcolor that
won't require touch-ups with a lipliner or a lip brush.
A creamy lipstick or smooth gloss is better than matte
or frosty formulas that can dry or lacquer glosses that
can be too sticky.
· DO wear face powder that matches
your skin EXACTLY. Same goes for concealer and foundation.
You won't wash out in photos and your makeup will work
for you the way you want it to.
· DO add some shimmer to your
final look. Brush some shimmer powder or rub some shimmer
lotion onto your shoulders, cleavage, arms and legs.
It adds a subtle gleam to your skin.
