xperience 'Songs From Home' now on CD

WHENEVER she goes on concert stage, Lea Salonga never fails to amaze her audience with her voice and performance. Each time is a rare event that reunites the highly-celebrated artist with her fans. This was most evident during her critically-acclaimed, two-nights "Songs From Home," concert last year at the PICC where the audience marveled at Lea's smashing performance as she paid tribute to some of the best OPM songs ever written.

Now, a year later, the famed concert's live recording was finally released on CD, giving those who failed to see the show, as well as those who did, a chance to experience and enjoy the music over and over. Just like the concert, the "Songs From Home" CD highlights the diversity of Original Pilipino Music with its well-chosen repertoire as interpreted by the pride of our nation, Lea Salonga accompanied by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra with Gerard Salonga as conductor.

The album includes brilliant compositions by the country's legendary songwriters such as George Canceso ("Ngayon," "Kung Ako'y Iiwan Mo," "Kastilyong Buhangin," "Paano Ba ang Mangarap," "Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan," "Langis at Tubig," "Kahapon Lamang," "Ako ang Nagwagi"), Willy Cruz ("Bituing Walang Ningning," "Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas," "Pangarap Na Bituin"), and Levi Celerio ("Waray Waray/Galawgaw").

It also showcases pieces by Jose Mari Chan and Jimmy Santiago ("Hahanapin Ko"), Freddie Aguilar ("Anak"), Mike Hanopol ("Laki sa Layaw") and many other great composers. One of the CD's best moments is a medley of Ogie Alcasid's recent compositions "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," "Pangarap Ko ang Iibigin Ka," and "Hanggang Ngayon," which Lea did with Ogie himself.

As an added bonus, "Songs From Home" includes an audio VCD featuring the new Cream Silk Conditioners theme song "Flying Free" plus the TV commercial and its behind the scene music video. This special feature was made possible by all-new Cream Silk Conditioners which Lea is currently endorsing.
