Disco Fever, The Pinoy Style
Boyfriends,
the first ever super boy band of the Philippines, adds
a new CD to its growing catalogue: "Boyfriends
Platinum Hits: Pinoy Disco Fever."
It is a fifteen-track album that includes favorites
like "Sumayaw, Sumunod," "Bakit Labis
Kitang Mahal," "Nais Kong Malaman Mo,"
"Dahil Mahal Kita," remixed in a modern sound.
The album displays Boyfriends' easy, breezy Manila vibe,
whilst simultaneously showcases the different remixes
of each song. Yes, in a non-stop, all-night spin CD
form, each song is treated in different ways. "Bakit
Labis Kitang Mahal," is done down tempo style,
"Dahil Mahal Kita" is given the house music
touch, and "Salawahan," a hip hop feel. "Oras
Oras" takes you to the ever-popular chill out scene,
as "Pagtibok ng Puso," world music.
As if the fifteen songs are not enough for a party-hardy
night, a bonus medley track is found at the very end.
Fittingly called "Medley," five songs are
meshed in together for a grand slam finale.
Boyfriends is amongst the most-loved groups that made
popular the so-called Manila sound. They exploded into
the scene in 1978 with the massive hit, "Dahil
Mahal Kita." Known for their happy laid-back, "Manila-sque"
tunes, the group went on spurning songs like "Nais
Ko Malaman Mo," "Araw Araw," and "Umaapoy."
Never to be irrelevant or dated, "Boyfriends Platinum
Hits: Pinoy Disco Fever" shows a more updated Boyfriends
for the new and modern times.
"Boyfriends Platinum Hits: Pinoy Disco Fever"
is now available on CDs in all Tatak Pilipino outlets,
released by Pinoyvision Records.
