 HERILYN
REYES-CHRIS TAN
Perfect Together
December 17, 2003, manila
Television
hosts Sherilyn "Shey" Reyes married PBA player
Chris Tan in an intimate ceremony at La Cocina De Tita
Moning in Manila last December 17. Around 50 guests, close
friends from in and out of show business, witnessed their
exchange of "I do's".
Whey
they first met, Shey wasn't immediately attracted to Chris;
she likes Moreno-skinned guys and, besides, she thought
he was malakas ang dating. But as she got to know know
Chris better, he turned out to be a sensitive person,
not mayabang, as his stocky frame and towering six-foot
height might suggest.
"The
times that we got together, I noticed that napalagay agad
ang loob ko sa kanya maybe because he showed respect and
good intentions," she says. "Sometimes when
he's driving, he would pull over and sing me a song out
of the blue."
He
was also there during difficult times. "The times
I was depressed, he made me feel wanted. The time I felt
ugly, he would surprise me with flowers and make me feel
beautiful.

And
so it wasn't very difficult for Shey when Chris popped
the question. Though he needed the consent of her five-year-old
son Paoie (from a previous marriage) as well, she knew
it wasn't going to be much of a problem because Chris
had already made his son feel loved.
On
their wedding days, they recalled how they overcame the
obstacles that faced their relationship, saying that nay
other couple might have decided to call it quits because
that would've been the easier choice.
"We
may not be perfect individually but we get to be when
were together. We co mplement
and give strength to each other."
Shey
and Chris are now enjoying the fruits of their hardships
including their one-year-old son Quirsten who, according
to Shey, is the object of Paoie's fondness.

A
funny thing happened during their special day. On the
way to the venue, Shey got a flat tire! Later, at the
dinner reception, Chris professed his undying love by
singing Kenny Rogers' "Through The Years" (one
of their theme songs), which made her sweep.
Shey's
special request form Chris was for him to look at her
straight in the eye as she walked down the aisle. He did.
And he never looked happier.
