nlike other show biz people who dream of living independently,
singer Roselle Nava actually hanging
out with her family at the place they've been calling
home for the past 18 years.
Singer
Roselle Nava's home may be far from Metro Manila, but
it is very close to her heart. They have been staying
San Pedro, Laguna, for 18 years already and the house
itself has undergone renovations-during the last one,
they even added a swimming pool in the backyard.
"Dito
na kami napamhal," explains Mommy Luz, the singer's
mother." And then, may mga kamag-anak pa kami sa
kabilang subdivision, so it's hard to us to leave the
area."
The
different rooms reflect the family's varying tastes. The
sala has lots of scented candles and cushy furniture.
This is where Roselle entertains her guests. "It's
not often that I get to invite friends over, lalo na kapag
busy sa trabaho and all."
The
house is not exactly big, but Mon, the singer's dad, remembers
"a time we were able to accommodate 150 people! Hindi
ko alam mo how we did it, but I think we were able to
squeeze in that much inside the house and by the poolside."
The
pool, built a year ago, was a special request of Mommy
Luz, who loves taking to the water. Roselle adds: "Sometimes,
after I go the gym, I take a dip to relax before I go
to work. But Mommy is the one who uses to this everyday!"
Who
else lives here? Aside from Roselle and her parents, there
are also two younger brothers and the help. But it is
Roselle's lilac-colored room that's the biggest; it even
boasts a walk-in closet. On one side of the wall, framed
b pink curtains, is a portrait of the singer given by
the Star Records (which produced her three albums, including
last year's All About Love).
"
I had a hand in deciding what my room would look like,"
Roselle says. "Supposedly, darker pa nga 'yung walls.
Pero I think I chose the right tone." In her bathroom
is a tub which she says is her 'pang-relax."
The
walk-in closet is to die for. It's big enough to contain
practically everything she's worn-form concert get-ups
to casuals. Dozens of shoes are neatly stacked alongside
her accessories.
Says
Ate Helen, the family's most trusted help: "Naku,
'yang si Roselle, kapag nagbihis 'yan, parang binagyo
itong lugar na ito, dahil palit ng palit!"
"Sometimes
her younger brother also sleeps in the room with her,"
says Mommy Luz. Otherwise, Roselle is all by her lonesome.
A bookcase filled with paperbacks stands in front of her
bed.
"Right
now I'm addicted to the Shopaholic series," she says,
referring to the works of British author Sophie Kinsella.
As for the test of her books, "some of them were
wither borrowed or lost." Instead, framed picture
fill the empty spaces.
Most
of the pictures are of her with friends form De La Salle
University, where she finished college, and Colegio De
San Agustin (high school). And who are her show biz friends?
"Sina Jolina, sina Rica, mga taga-ASAP," says
Mommy Luz.
"Wala
siyang masyadong friends from the industry. She's really
a homebody, ditto lang 'yan sa bahay, manonood ng TV o
kaya paikut-ikot ditto sa bahay. Her brothers are usually
the ones who got out with her sa gimmicks," she adds.
But
wait, no boyfriend pictures? "Wala. Alam mo naman
si Daddy, istrikto talaga," explains Roselle.
Luckily,
for the men who still aspire to be her better half, she's
not getting hitched anytime soon. "Ang sabi niya,
gusto daw niya munang patapusin 'yung bunso namin and
then form there, bahala na," says Mommy Luz.
Daddy
Mon adds: "Malaki na siya, so makakapag-decide na
siya on her own." But is she type? Unlike other show
biz people who dream of living away from family, Roselle,
27, would rather be by her mom and dad's side-for now.
"Darating tayo diyan pero malayo pa. Probably when
I'm 32,: she says.-
