ulawin's Bianca King may be all the reason you'll need to settle and build a nest of our own.
Don't be deceived by Bianca King's dainty features. This feisty 18-year old has surprised everyone with her gift and no-nonsense attitude in playing more than teenybopper roles that it got even the toughest of the tough to come home and tune in to primetime TV. As you'll see, she's one to have a keen eye on winning, and the guts to actually work for it. This is probably why Bianca's a thumbs-up choice for playing heroine Aviona in the hit TV epic Mulawin.” [Aviona's] not fickle-minded. She really knows what she wants and that's what she's gonna go for.” Get the message? Take her seriously—she's currently working on her battle form by training in the martial arts.
Is she really that feisty, you ask? Maybe. When we got to talk to her more, we eventually found out that we needn't worry—this girl's as grounded as she can get. How grounded? Fold your wings and spread the pages. Be careful though—you might fall off that tree.
In Mulawin , you're always hanging by the harness, right?
Yeah. Most of the time I “fly.”
That's tiring. You be athletic.
Yeah, actually. I was very athletic when I was in high school because I was a cheer-dance. I was very relaxed during my first year in college, though. Recently, I've started going to the gym again, because of a lot of physical activities like fight scenes [in Mulawin]. I enjoy being brave and athletic. Well, maybe I'm a bit lampa , but I don't like to think that I'm lampa .

Do you also look for that in a guy? Yung mga athletic?
Oo naman . I wouldn't want to be with someone who's batugan . I would really prefer that the guy I'm dating has as much physical activity as I , or even more, like going to the gym or engaging in extreme sports. Ayoko ng lax na lalaki .
Speaking of which, are you with anyone right now?
No. (smiles)
What's you type?
Ok. I prefer him to be taller than me. Basta, kailangan nice build. He has to be healthy. I prefer also if he doesn't smoke, kasi I hate smokers. Aside from that, he has to get along with all of my friends—my gay friends, in particular. That's how I can tell if he's a really nice person.
If he hangs out with your gay friends?
Like, if he gets along with gay friends, or makes an effort to get along with my gay friends. A lot of my really good friends are gay. I've encountered guys before who are homophobic. Like when I'm out with my gay friends , hindi sila sasama, hindi sila magpapakita, or aalis na lang sila . It really annoys me.
What is it about guys not getting along with your gay friends that turns you off?
It's like, they're not comfortable with their sexuality enough to be around new people. There's, like, this show of embarrassment or this reaction just being around gay people. That was an issue for a while with the last person I dated. He didn't really like being around my gay friends. He'd always complain that my gay friends wosuld always be in my room.
(Bianca's manager Bench): All her close friends are gay.
Not naman all. I have best friends who are girls. But yeah, super dami ko talagang gay friends, which I am proud of.
What you have learned from having such diverse friends?
My friends are actually more diverse than just gay and straight. Like, I have friends from high school who have totally no social lives. I have friends naman who are super, super rich, who don't know what to do with their money. I have lots of different friends. I guess that's good, because it keeps me grounded. It's like, I'm more aware, I know who I am.
Would you ever consider having a girlfriend?
No! (laughs) No!
Not at all?
No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, (laughing). The gay that I'm talking about is [a gay guy].
Yeah, I know, I'm diverting.
I'm not a lesbian. I'm too attracted to the male species.
Aside from being comfortable with his sexuality, what else do you like in a guy?
He has to be able to hang out with me for one whole day, doing whatever I like doing. Even if he'd not necessarily enjoy it, basta marunong siyang makisama with the people I like to hang around with. [He should] be able to go to the places I like to go to, and appreciate the food I like to eat. That's how you'll know if you're compatible with someone. Even if he's not really into those things, if he makes an effort to enjoy those things for the sake of the person.
That's a general thing.
It's hard to be specific, because I was no specific before that I ended up being with one person for too long. It just has to be like that. We have to get along.

How about something more superficial?
I avoid being superficial lalo na during interviews eh , but sige, let me be superficial. Ok, this is a true superficial fact that I tell many friends: I can't stand a guy who doesn't dress well.
Meaning?
Parang they don't make an effort to make themselves look good. I'm not even gonna pay attention to you.
That's funny!
Swear! Eh sabi mo superficial eh. Haha! If this is like a girly conversation [it would be ok], but I'm not really anything like that. Of course, that's not what really matters, or is the end-all be-all.
It's just a slight, slight, first impression…
Super initial first impression. Of course, if he makes an effort, like bringing me food during my tapings…then, fine.
That's kinda sweet.
Something can come out of that. I like being spoiled because I spoil in return.
Like how?
Like, I shop for the guy. I cook food…
Real cooking?
Yeah. The last guy that I dated, I learned how to cook what he likes to eat. I even cooked at his house for his family. It wasn't even for an occasion. I just went to the grocery, bought something, and then cooked.
Have you hit on a guy?
Yeah! Especially recently that I just turned 18. I'm more open to the idea of being a little bit more playful. You know, not just waiting for things to fall on my lap.
What's the best line you've used?
I don't use lines.
What do you use?
Charm (smiles). Charm and wit.
I'm a guy, make me understand.
You can't decipher really what charm is. Charm is just an aura. It's an attitude. Or—you know—being friendly, or having a little smile on your face when you're talking to the guy.
What do you wear when you go to sleep?
I have my typical pajamas. But there are days also when I'd wear just a shirt.
What's the sexiest thing you've worn?
Let me think. When it comes to dressing up, if I'm going out, I usually go all out. Like in the UNO party I was wearing a short skirt and a top that was sort of backless—like that. But the sexiest would be when I'm at the beach, where I walk around in a bikini. So what, diba? They don't care.
That what she thinks… (Articles lifted from UNO Magazine) -
