ABOUT THE BOOK

  A BOOK CELEBRATES PINOY CHRISTMAS

A salute to Filipino artistry, innovativeness and craftsmanship, Philippine Christmas: Art and Form features a Christmas like no other in the world with its months-long celebration that is colorful, exuberant and excessive – so typical of a Philippine fiesta.

Philippine Christmas: Art and Form by Reynaldo Alejandro, Marla Yotoko Chorengel and Melissa Ylanan Moran. Well-known artist Nik Rocio worked on the book desing.

Philippine Christmas highlight the well-loved symbols of Pasko – the parol, the belen, the Christmas tree, lights, tablescapes and a myriad of yuletide ornaments – that has become unique expressions of Pinoy Christmas despite foreign influences and ever-changing trends.

Reynaldo G. Alejandro has written extensively on Philippine culture and nature, performing and culinary arts. He is a recipient of many awards, fellowships and grants both in the Philippines and abroad. He is also a passionate photographer, archivist, dancer, choreographer and tablescapes artist.

Marla Yotoko Chorengel is the author of a dozen books on Philippine culture, folk tables and original stories for children. She has been twice nominated for the Philippine National Book Award for her contribution to Philippine children's literature.
