Placemats
and household linen
>Abaca is a tough,
shiny fiber produced almost exclusively in the
Philippines. Known to the rest of the world as Manila
hemp, it is the most popular raw material for making
place mats, coasters, rugs and centerpieces. Most of
these items are made entirely by hand-from extracting
the fiber from the plant, to weaving and twining the
abaca into finished products. |
